The tangled web…

Well, I’m finally able to get a new broadband connection at home.

And you think it’d be just a case of browsing the web, finding the right deal, and signing up, wouldn’t you?

Nope.

All i want is up to 2Mb speeds (until my local exchange finally gets better), unlimited downloads, and no phone deal, modem, or any other tat bundled in.

Can I find a package that fits the bill exactly? Nope. And that’s before the debate between going with a small company (Generally better for customer service according to net wisdom), and a larger firm (Better for not being bought out, or caught out as resellers of other suppliers).

Choosing a phone line is relatively simple, as is switching….buying broadband is like trying to find the pin you dropped in the dark, and hoping when the lights come on, it isn’t stuck anywhere particularly painful. Bearing in mind the whole market is hopefully moving towards free net access anyway, it’s a right pain.
