If the web ran solely on SEO... why does Facebook exist ?

There are methods that we still dont yet fully understand in action all over the web.

Ignoring them will not make your business a success.

And how would you propose a business dislodges large companies and aggregators from the top 3 on Google?
Social is part of SEO in terms of building quality inbound links.

It's also part of the bit that's just as important as SEO - converting those people into paying customers/people who will share their data.

I don't buy anything from a simple search - I buy things from companies which have been recommended, or which have built some history or trust and customer service with me. In fact, I rarely search for anything any more, so your company would be completely invisible.

All this "social" nonsense is nonsense - if people really want to build a business and earn a living they need to work on SEO and get to the top 3 on google for their product, and then once the traffic comes ensure they capture as much data as possible in order to do something with it.

This has not change since search engines came along, and not likely to either.

Getting caught up in time intensive conversation thinking it will sell more widgets is more than a bad move.
